You can guess the quality of the product from its user guide. Starts from unclear (in fact wrong) installation procedure.

Considering the amount of weight and sound it makes, it does not cool that effectively. Built quality is poor, cheaper plastic.

Costco, so returning it is a lot of trouble. When I first bought this the cooling function, heat, & fan worked, but nothing else did. Since Windchaser’s customer service phone number is long distance, I emailed their customer service. They did not reply. Furthermore, it only cools a small bedroom, not the large room it promised. I would not recommend this unit to anyone. The company does not stand by its product, and they have no problem selling defective products.

I am very unhappy with this unit. It does not cool well at all! The intake hose is too close to the exhaust hose which blows out out extremely hot air. I plugged the intake slot in the plastic and just left the hose off of the intake so that it was just pulling in the room air to cool. This seemed to make a significant difference, but not enough to change my mind about keeping it. The hoses pop off of the mounting strip easily and sometimes without reason. Finally, today my electric bill. Last year I had a 12,000 BTU Sears window AC and my usage was about 1/3 higher than last August. I’m glad Costco has a good return policy, although returning will be a pain as I live 130 miles from a Costco and only have a car to transport. I’m trying the comparable Sears model. It had many positive reviews. If you’re thinking of buying this one, you’ll likely regret it.
