I purchased the Pac9R model (comes with remote) to supplement the central air conditioning for a 3rd floor room. This 3rd floor becomes extremely hot during the summer months because the central unit isn’t strong enough to cool it, and I needed something to help keep it cool, as I use this room as my home office.

Setup was not too difficult. I did have to drill through the wall to vent the exhaust outside because our non-standard windows would not support the supplied window kit. Instructions should have included that a diffuser is required though.

I would not recommend this product. This unit was extremely loud when the compressor kicked in, so much so that I would have to put it in fan only mode to talk on the phone. Also, the reservoir tank for excessive water had to be emptied every 2-3 hours. I picked this unit because it said water extracted from the air would be used to cool the unit, and I did not expect to have to manually empty a container. Plus, the hose for drainage is so low on the unit, I had to place it on a stand in order to put a container under it to drain.

I wound up taking this unit back and purchased a Sunpentown unit instead. This one is very quiet, cools much better, and I have yet to have to empty the reservoir. Plus, this unit is 3000 BTU more, and costed less than the 9000 BTU Windchaser.
