How do air conditioners produce so much water?

I have one of those large single-room air conditioners because my air conditioner system just doesn’t cut it, and it’s linked to the outside by a hose, so I have to empty the water when it gets full. How does it manage to produce about 5 pounds of water in just a few hours? Thanks for your answers!
You must have a large amount of water vapor in your air.

An air conditioner works by sucking the air out of your room and then running it through it's insides. When this happens, all of the humidity in the air is removed, which creates the water.

A company named Fedders. Sells several units they can be found on-line or at a Home depot store.

Also Royal Sovereign Has some they are on-line or at sears stores.

They do make them and there are several to choose from but they are expensive $300.00 to $500.00
