I so wanted to love this machine. I wanted a portable unit to replace the noisy, inefficient window unit that barely cooled the upstairs main room of our townhouse.
Finally decided on a brand. Wanted the DeLonghi, but could not bring myself to pay the $1,600 for it. This model had more BTUs, and more features.
The thing that first struck me was the absolutely STUPID vent design. Why on earth would you have the cold air blowing downwards! Remember from third grade, hot air rises, cold air sinks. Also, the airflow was way to narrow.

I purchased the Pac9R model (comes with remote) to supplement the central air conditioning for a 3rd floor room. This 3rd floor becomes extremely hot during the summer months because the central unit isn’t strong enough to cool it, and I needed something to help keep it cool, as I use this room as my home office.
Setup was not too difficult. I did have to drill through the wall to vent the exhaust outside because our non-standard windows would not support the supplied window kit. Instructions should have included that a diffuser is required though.

I bought this one used on craigslist, after I had bought the older model the 1210E and was extremely happy with it.
I can’t have window AC’s because I have bars, and a portable seemed like a good solution.
This one had more bells and whistles than the 1210E but as far as cooling…
It does work and it will cool down a medium sized room but…
It didn’t work as fast as my previous Sunpentown 1210E.

I bought a WA-9000E unit through Newegg to help cool my bedroom. The room is small, has a couple of computers in it, and faces the sun in the evening, so it can get uncomfortably hot. I also have roommates and usually keep the door shut.
The setup of the unit is easy, and you can begin using it almost immediately. It puts out a lot of cold air, and has a nice backlit display, but the control panel has buttons that look and feel very cheap. Also, setting up the timer function is confusing at best. It claims to have 3 different fan speeds, but there is almost no noticeable difference between the low and high settings.
