Sovereign ARP-1000E Portable Air Conditioner Review Love it!

Oh, Royal Sovereign…what can I say. We purchased this product because our DeLongi had cheap pieces and we had to take it back, twice. My husband had gone to 9 different stores looking for a portable air conditioning unit and was unsuccessful. I had done an on-line search and found this at Kmart, in our area. I had never heard of it and came here to find out the scoop. I really didn’t like the reviews but considering it was the only one left in our area and we were looking at a weekend of 95 degree plus heat I decided to make the executive decision to go ahead and purchase it. We couldn’t be happier.

First, the hose that comes with it is long enough to fit out of both of our windows that we move it to and easily!! The hose is durable and bendable, basically you can take it out of the window, hang it over the front along with the cord and move it to the other room. You don’t have to wait half the day to turn it back on once you turned it off, you do have to wait 3 minutes. I’m not sure why but I won’t question it. It does have a remote, a filter and the louvers move so that you can aim it at the ceiling or at yourself (love that!!). It is sort of loud but what do you expect, it’s not a central a/c unit! It was less expensive than I thought it was going to be too! Bonus!!

Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone!!

Royal Sovereign ARP-900DE Portable Air Conditioner Review It does what I bought it to do

I live in an older apartment and the air conditioning goes out fairly regularly. Living in the south, it can get pretty uncomfortable. I wanted a unit I could use for those occasions, and also, since I spend most of my time in one room, to be able to use it and turn off the central air to save on my electric bill.

The pros:

1. It does do what I bought it to do. It cools my 12×14 room even on hot days. It will not efficiently cool a much larger space, though.

2. The remote control is handy.

3. It is easy to install.

DeLonghi PAC C100 Portable Air Conditioner Review Returned 2 times!!

Okay, so you see the name, you think its quality…guesses again!! The unit itself is amazing but the attachments that come with it are cheap!

We purchased this model because of its name, DeLonghi. We have several other products by the same company and have had them for years.

Once we plugged it in and got the hose all put together it cooled our living room within the first 15 minutes and had dropped our temp by 10 degrees. It was a 93 degree day outside so our house was very warm on the inside. The hose, for us, was a little shorter than we had hoped for and it has a dual exhaust, which means that you have not one but two hoses to fit out of a window. We do have the old crank windows but on the box it said that it would work for any type of window. It does come with roped suction cups so that the window will stay as closed as possible.

We purchased this model on Wednesday. It worked fine for the first night but then the hose part, which goes out the window, broke on Thursday and took it back that night. We got another one, same model, got it home, out of the box and as we were putting it together it broke! We then traveled to 9, yes I said nine, different stores looking for something of the same quality but they did not carry any portable air conditioning units, they had all sold out. The guy at Lowes, the store where we had originally purchased this model said that they had one more in stock but that we probably shouldn’t purchase it. DO NOT BUY this model unless you plan on making trips back and forth to the store to by another one. We ended up with a Royal Sovereign…great!

Royal Sovereign ARP-900DE Portable Air Conditioner Review Quite a piece of ____.

I bought this model from Costco. This was during a heat wave so maybe just maybe that’s why this air conditioner wasn’t functioning properly. My room is 100 square feet which isn’t much. Installation was easy and the instructions were helpful. No problems there. Then I turned it on. The compressor is a loud one, definitely over 50 db. Even on “low” the loudness remained. I closed my window, shut my door, and waited a good 45 minutes until returning. When I opened my door, I was greeted with warm air. Not even room temperature, WARM. I went up close to it to make sure it was functioning and it was. The air coming out was really cold.

Sovereign ARP-1200EX Portable Air Conditioner Review Easy assembly, Cools very fast!

I bought the 10,000 BTU unit which is identical except for the difference in BTUs. I have to disagree with the first commentors opinion on assembly of the machine. The setup took me about 10-15 minutes to completely get it running. Even if you have never used a screwdriver in your life, it could be set up in about 30 minutes. The window assembly is durable hard plastic and the flexible piping is also of good durable quality unlike some of the other units that come with foam for the air inlet and outlet to attach to. I have mine in a horizontal slider window and with the insert plate extended, it pretty much covers the whole window minus about 2 inches up top, which is of no concern. There is not much for instructions simply because you dont need them, installation is so easy just using your common sense. Putting together a childs lego castle would be more difficult than this task. There was only one thing that took a little messing with, and that is; the tubing. Instead of forcing the tubing into the adapters, you must screw it on just like on a coke bottle. You take the end where it is cut and screw it all the way up the collar for a nice fit. Otherwise you may bend the tubing or worse have it blow off. That is probably the most difficult part of assembly. Ok, so enough about assembly, lets talk about the actual unit and its functionality.

The unit is about 70 lbs, but has wheels, so anyone could easily just cut the box down the sides and wheel it out. Upon inspection of the unit, it looks to be of good solid quality from the control panel right down to the assembly pieces. I personally think it is an attractive unit and the white color seems to just fade into the background of my living room. The control panel is easy to use and has big buttons and a simple layout. Performance is above average and cooled a 450 sq ft. living room to 68 degrees considerably fast. You just set the desired temp and your good to go. I believe it works much more efficiently than the window units you see in a hotel room. There is a timer so you can set it to go on or off from 1-12 hours. The remote is handy and shows you the room temperature or the desired set temperature. The unit also displays this information.

So this sounds like a perfect unit so far, well unfortunately nothing is perfect, so I must tell you the downside of such a wonderful unit. Yes there is always a downside, but thats the price you pay to stay cool. Yep, you guessed it.. the NOISE! Ya its pretty darn loud with the fan blowing on high. Tolerable, yes; but only because it cools so fast that you can turn it off when youre comfortable. TV is kinda of hard to watch with it on. But luckily I dont need it much into the evening. So the one drawback is the noise. I got it for a good price at Costco, and it came delivered in good shape and I am enjoying it so far. I cant speak on reliability of the unit cause I havent had it all that long. I researched alot of units and my gut told me to get one from Costco because in my experience, they always carry good quality stuff at the cheapest price. There are alot of portable units out there, all of them have their pros and cons, but this seems to me like a good unit so far and I am pleased not to mention much, much cooler!
