Haier HWV10XC5 Air Conditioner Review Better than expected!

Looks a lot better in person than the web or newspaper image. Kind of an amalgam of cheap parts with some surprisingly robust features. Did not like the cheap plastic lever that operates the fresh air vent, but it gets the job done. The filter is easy to access and easy to clean. The case is constructed of ‘hydrophilic’ coating that resists dirt and bacteria. And the cooling coils at the rear appear to be premium construction.

LG LC8000 Thru-Wall/Window Air Conditioner Review Keep yourself Cool with an LG!

I purchased the LG air conditioner because of reviews I had read, price and size. I needed an air conditioner that would cool 250 square feet and be small enough to fit in a single-hung window. (up and down opening window, not side-opening). Honestly, this is the only one I could find that would fit and was in my price range. I was buying another for downstairs, so I didn’t want to spend a lot.

Be certain to measure your windows at the smallest opening before making a purchase.

I put the air conditioner in a bedroom area that is 15X17. My husband installed it quickly and easily, basically, just slip it in the window, screw it in to the window opening and plug it in. He did have my help since it was in an upstairs window and we didn’t want to drop it. It comes with side panels to completely close off the outside. They are accordian-style and a bit flimsy but they are the same on all of the air conditioners I looked at. They did a good job of sealing out the outside air, but be aware that children can pull on them and bend them. The air conditioner, itself, is quite nice looking. You can set the temperature to what you would like to cool the room. You can choose “cool” to cool the room “energy saver” for energy saver operation “fan” for basic ventilating or “dry” for dry operation. It has a timer that can start and stop the unit by the hour. It comes with a handy remote that can set the timer, temperature, fan speed, mode (cool, fan, dry etc.) The air flow can be adjusted up, down, right or left. I have found that it cools quite well either to the right or left. One does not seem to do better than the other. It cools quickly and the fan speeds work quite well. We run it on high to cool quickly and then on low while we sleep. I did find it to be noisy at times but not continuously, and not enough so that I had to turn it off. If you are a light sleeper, however, this may not be the unit for you if you intend to run it while sleeping. For me, it wasn’t a problem and I am neither a light nor deep sleeper. It is an air conditioner, it’s purpose is to blow air and that is not going to be unnoticeable. It is not an extreme amount of noise at all. We listen to the t.v. and it does not cause a problem. It is easy to take out the filter, removable from the front grill, clean it, and put it back. I only cleaned mine twice the entire summer. My electric bill did go up about $12.00 per month due to this unit and I did not use the energy saver option. A small price to pay for cooling comfort in a hot summer. I am very pleased with this purchase and would certainly buy another LG.

LG LP6000ER Thru-Wall/Window Air Conditioner Review This LG unit is subpar.

I bought the 7K BTU version of this air conditioner about 2 summers ago. So far, it has held up the same for the past couple years. The problem with that, though, is that since day 1 this unit has really not done the job. I like it cold, so perhaps I should’ve bought a 10K BTU unit, but I figured 7K would be enough in a room that is only 8′x11′. My roommate has a 12×12 room and his older 8K BTU Frigidaire turns his room into a freezer, so it should’ve been fine. I settled on the LG because it was nice-looking, had an easy to use electronic interface, and a remote control (not that I needed it, but the vanity of it won me over). My bed is also in front of my AC, so it was necessary for me to find a unit with vents on top. However, now I’m on my third summer, and with the unit set on high and on the coldest setting possible (60 degrees), I walk into my room and I’m merely satisfied with the temperature. My remote doesn’t work properly–if I turn the temperature down from my remote, the temperature automatically begins to rise unless I adjust it from the actual control panel (this is very annoying). I think at this price, I should be able to walk in, use my remote, and freeze myself if that’s what I want to do. I’m considering buying a unit for the living room, but I am pretty certain it will not be an LG. My roommate’s Fridigaire is great, so I’ll probably go with one of those.
