Looks a lot better in person than the web or newspaper image. Kind of an amalgam of cheap parts with some surprisingly robust features. Did not like the cheap plastic lever that operates the fresh air vent, but it gets the job done. The filter is easy to access and easy to clean. The case is constructed of ‘hydrophilic’ coating that resists dirt and bacteria. And the cooling coils at the rear appear to be premium construction.

The unit is nicely designed and laid out. I purchased this unit to maintain cellar temperature in a small, 80 sq ft. wine cellar with no windows. I chose this unit based upon reviews, low price, and advertised thru-wall installation.
Although this is advertised as a thru-wall/window air conditioner, the directions which accompany the unit clearly state it is designed for installation in a double hung window (movable top and bottom window frames), which i found odd since clearly, the unit could also be installed in a single-hung window (movable bottom frame only), so I’m unclear why they make the distinction.

On May 30, 2007, I purchased this very nice looking Haier Room Air Conditioner at Walmart for $244.00.
The weather has been in the 85-90 degree area here in PA and our house is a nice and cool 65 with this air conditioner running.
It is really quiet for an air conditioner. I forget it is even on until I step out my front door and feel that heat hit me from the outside.
A friend visited last night and thought we had central air!
