Our Hoover upright finally got on my nerves – in my back (see http://www.epinions.com/content_90712608388). I’d stopped vacuuming very regularly because the Hoover was just too heavy and awkward. My back hurt just thinking about vacuuming.
So the day came when I finally got my dander up, literally, and headed to my local vacuum store. I didn’t know what I wanted, but knew what I didn’t and figured an expert would help me narrow down the choices.
I was pretty sure I’d come away with a canister vac and was right. I didn’t know I’d be spending more than $300 on a brand I’d never heard of before.

OK, some people might be asking why I’m bothering reviewing something that has been adequately reviewed by many, many other probably more accurate and detailed reviewers. Well, I have owned Dysons now for 10 years (I owned a DC01 De Stijl http://www.dyson.co.uk/range/DC01-DES/1.jpg which my mum is still using!). Before owning one, I have used a pretty powerful little Bosch drag along and a couple of Hoover uprights, all with bags. Dyson were the first to create (and patent) the bagless Cyclone suction system. They were also the first to give you a clear cannister in which to observe just how much stuff was coming out of your carpet in order for you to be horrified and wonder what your other vacuum had been doing all this time.
