I so wanted to love this machine. I wanted a portable unit to replace the noisy, inefficient window unit that barely cooled the upstairs main room of our townhouse.

Finally decided on a brand. Wanted the DeLonghi, but could not bring myself to pay the $1,600 for it. This model had more BTUs, and more features.

The thing that first struck me was the absolutely STUPID vent design. Why on earth would you have the cold air blowing downwards! Remember from third grade, hot air rises, cold air sinks. Also, the airflow was way to narrow.

Secondly for all the noise, it put out very little cold air, combine that with the ridiculous design of the vent, I was stuck moving the unit around to try and cool the room.

When the water tank was full, the unit would turn off completely, so indicator of water level, so no warning. Some days it would cool for hours, some days just a couple and it would shut off. No reset! You had to turn the unit off, drain the water (a big mess) and turn back on.

The water tank is a mes to drain, unhook the air hose, unscrew the cap, pull out a plug and hope you catch the water in the poorly designed tray.

Basically we are out almost $800 for the unit, shipping and the very costly window bracket ($60).

I would only use this for VERY small rooms, where you can’t place a window unit.
