The price : $490.00I purchased the MAC-10K this summer and the unit worked great as an AC unit. It cooled off our room perfectly. Then winter came and the temperature dropped. I turned on the heater and all the unit did was blow cold air. I called the customer service department at Soleusair and was told that this sometimes happens. “Good news, your unit is still under warranty”. Good thing since it was only 5 months old. They said, they would send us a soleusair portable heater, Model MS-09. I complained that this was not acceptable. I paid for one unit that does everything. I did not want a separate unit for a heater. I called different departments only to learn that this is their policy…no exceptions. Their option is to replace the heater only. Well, it was getting colder and I caved in and asked for the heater. I am still mad and I think that nobody should buy products from a company that does not stand behind the quality of their products. The entire unit should have been replaced.

Bought this unit in 2005 for use as A/C in our 2 months of heat yearly. Unit worked well. Kept Living, Dining, and Kitchen cool. Set it up with ease in a window. No drainage problems. Winter 2005 our furnace croaked - had 2 weeks around Christmas & New Year’s w/o heat and the unit kept the same area warm. Never needed dehumidifier. Noticed that the program would change with the use of the remote, not hard to switch back.

This thing never seamed to work quite right, but it started to shut off on it own after about a year. Now we’ve owned it for almost 2 years and it has completely stopped working. I will never buy anything from Soleus Air ever again!
