Installation

I purchased this unit last summer to keep an IT server room cool at my small business. The room is about 225 sqft, and has about 12-14 computers/servers running in at any time. The room already had a duct from the master AC unit of the building, but it did little or no good, so we sealed the duct and put this in place. We used a certified HVAC mechanic to have the installation done.

The inside wall unit mounted nicely on a board, while the outside condenser is a good 30 feet away outside. Even though the condenser is far from the unit, the unit does a great job cooling.

Use

I heard a lot of good reviews about Sanyo, and the fact that they were one of the first companies to offer this type of ac technology. That being said, we are impressed.

The unit is controlled by a remote control, and has some advanced features and programming capabilities that you would find on a better central air thermostat. The unit itself has a quiet mode, and it works well. I cannot hear it above the noise of computers running anyhow. The unit runs almost non-stop (we set it that way to take humidity out of the room) but even at that, we did not see a significant increase in our electricity bill.

The unit is so efficient, that it would actually cool the adjoining room to the room it is installed in if I were not to bump up the temperature a few degrees.

The filter (though it does not pick up much) is very easy to pop off and rinse out, no buying paper filters.

Summary

Though it is one of the more expensive units (the Koreans are producing similar units for half the price) this thing is worth every penny. Running non-stop for almost a year now and not a single problem or complaint.
