Purchased this unit in summer 2004 because of it’s compact design and good Consumer Reports review. It was pricey but worth it.I have been very satisfied with it’s overall performance. I have a 15′x17′ bedroom which it cools with ease and the compressor is comparatively quiet which makes it ideal for use in this type of room.

The side curtains though, are of poor thin quality. Had to seal edges with foam and tape even though there are previsions to semi-permanently screw down the curtains into the sill once they are set. The intake air filter does not keep the thin aluminum fins behind it clean enough

particularly when the unit is being used on a continuous basis during the hottest time of the year. They eventually had a significant level of dust on the lower portion. The front plastic grille only partially swings out for cleaning so I actually had to unscrew the entire front grill (not too difficult a task but should not be necessary) from the sides to remove it and unplug the thermostat wire to clean the front of the aluminum fins gently with a vacuum cleaner brush so as not to dent them. Design improvement needed here.

These are what I consider minor caveats and do not deter me from recommending this quiet reliable A/C Unit. The compact design concept is such a step up from the huge “boxes” we stick in our windows, I’m surprised other companies have not copied it. I work in retail and we sell many other LG products. They are all of top quality and performance. They are really giving other companies a run for their money. It’s a brand worth looking at.
