The price : $99.00Hoover’s have always been in my house. I think in 25 years, we’ve gone through 3. The most recent one to kick didn’t acutally break pre se, the belt did, but when I took it apart to change the belt, a locking piece snapped, it refused to stay upright …
My Kenmore Upright, which I never cared for, finally got on my last nerve and I tossed it into the dumpster and went out to Meijer and purchased a Hoover Savvy U8135-900. I had done some research online for the best rated vacuums, and it was one of the top 3.
I was amazed at how great my rugs looked after vacuuming. Since my old vacuum wasn’t working well, my rugs were probably very dirty with ground in dirt that the Kenmore couldn’t pick up. The Hoover Savvy has a lot of attachments, that are behind a handy door right on the vacuum. Going from rugs to bare floor is easy with the flick of a switch on the handle of the vacuum. I also used the attachments for vacuuming the furniture and the living room drapes, did a TERRIFIC job!
I got this on sale for $229.99 and it was worth every penny.
It also is bagless, so I just have to empty the dirt cup every time I use it. The instruction booklet explains how to keep all the filters clean.
I definitely recommend this wonderful vacuum.
I was late for work (again) one day and blow drying my hair. My morning routine is to watch Good Morning America when I do my thing. So I’m drying my hair and this vacuum comparison comes on with Charlie Gibson and that woman from Good Housekeeping. Turns out, even that this Hoover Savvy was the best in value and everything else - even past that industrial yellow really expensive one that says it has a lot of “suck” - well according to GHKeeping, the Savvy was better.
Turns out it’s great. Yea, you will hear people complain - some people are just that way. Yea, it CAN be messy if you don’t know HOW to change the bagless system but once youg “get it” it’s not a problem. My rugs look new. I can’t believe that just a vacuum can make such a difference in how the house looks. It Rocks!
Works as advertised, a significant amount of suction, tools nicer than most we’ve used in the past. It did a good job of cleaning up all the dog hair too from our two 80 pound boys. We paid $136 at a Best Buy store (clearance). No belts is an additional plus. It’s not as noisy as our last one either. I would describe the weight as average. The “power” hand tool seems to work well on the stairs. The new feature of disengaging the power drive assist (motor switches to a lower power) when upright automatically is unusual.
It cleans better than any others I’ve used. Assembly is simple and takes minutes.
Updated January 06 - a small part of the handle release pedal broke off so it won’t stay upright. As this “spring” part of it is a little piece of plastic, I would be surprised if it would last very long for anyone. They do have a better engineered replacement part “Handle-release v2″ (third update). Also it is more annoying to partially disassemble than past ones I’ve owned. Mostly I’ve done this when the transparent vents (the “windtunnel”) get clogged. Still cleans better than previous vacs.
I like how you can switch from carpet to bare floor with a touch of a button and it seems to work well on my carpet (which is very low) - but when it came to using the edging tools around the corners and baseboards, I found that the suction was really weak. I literally had to hold the tool directly over the debris I wanted to suck up to even get the vacuum to consider picking it up. No matter how light or small the dustball was, it didn’t seem to have the power to pick it up right away. Where was the windtunnel action?? I am strongly considering changing it in for a Full powered Hoover Windtunnel. It may be more money, but it will be worth not having to go over the same spot twice.
