We finally caved in and went for a portable unit and specifically this unit given the very complimentary reviews on the seller’s website. Item arrived in a ok time frame from the time I ordered it (slightly under two weeks). Box looked fine, I thanked the delivery man and hurriedly opened it for use. Unit appeared slightly dirty, user manual looked like it was read over a couple of times, and the accessories seemed out of place. At that time I thought nothing of it, installed it (moderate difficulty)and started running it. Appeared to work fine and I was happy, packed up the box to put away. The shape of the unit itself was boxy but not too bad looking but is also quite wide in girth (about 15+”). The remote control was fun to have but you need to be very close or at the right angle for it to activate.
The enclosed area this was used in is approximately 300square feet in dimension, so about the size of a living room. The external temperature was approximately 92F and the interior was about 5 below that at 87F. However, three hours later I did not notice much difference in the room (besides the fairly loud droning of unit and the thermostat still at 86F) and looked across to it and to my horror there was a puddle around the unit. Thankfully the leak appeared to be only water. Not sure how or why so much condensation would have been accumulated but it was evident that the unit defective or may have even been a badly refurbished item. I am still in the process of getting the item returned but have been through enough that I would never look twice at this brand again.
