What a disposable world we live in now. Haier HWR05XC7 Thru Wall/Window Air Conditioner I purchased this unit last week to put in my small workshop. It's 8' x 16' ...

I purchased this Haier air conditioner last week and installed it right away. With this 90 degree weather and 85% humidity, we needed it! We purchased it to cool off a room about 9×9, and a bathroom which is around 6×6. It did in fact, cool off both rooms quite nicely.
How it works:
It only took about 3 hours to completely cool off both rooms we intended it to. But it also helped cool off our living room that is around the corner, so we were able to turn down the other air conditioner. It cools perfectly, I have no complaints about that. Also, its rather quiet, not including my issue as you’ll see below. Compared to the 8,000 BTU one we have in the living room, this 5,200 BTU is as quiet as a mouse. You have your basic settings, which are very easy to navigate. You select the fan speed, high or low. Then you select how cool you want it to be, between 1-10. Then there is the on/off switch and thats it. Very simple, just the way I like it.
How it fits:
The manufacturer states the dimensions are about 11″ high, 17″ wide and 13″ deep. This is not adding the curtain, or “window sizer” as I like to call it. I bought this at Circuit City’s website and those were the only dimensions I could find. With the curtain completely stretched out it can reach up to around 35″. I have mine in the window at 22″. As for the height, your adding on about an additional 3 inches all together.
The issues:
When we installed this, we needed the curtain in. With the extra 1.5″ on the bottom, the entire air conditioner doesn’t sit flush with our window sill. This caused a slight problem, where we had to put an old towel underneath, which as you’ll find out, turns out to be a pretty good idea anyway. This air conditioner doesn’t seem to have any type of water drain, so the water actually pools at the bottom inside. This causes the fan to make a slapping sound as it spins, hitting the pool of water. We tilted it back as far as possible, and it still happens. We are in the process of removing the back to see if we can rig something up to fix this problem. But honestly, its not that big of an issue for us, considering the price we paid, and how well it cools.
