The price : $540.00When working this unit is fine. It did a good job cooling and you do not have to empty a water pan. However the unit only lasted 2 months before breaking. There is no contact information in the owners manual. So chances are you will have to return for an exchange or to try and get it fixed. Be prepared for a large shipping bill.I would suggest staying with an known brand or buy local.

I built a four level townhouse a few years ago. HVAC was a concern because the builder was only installing a single zone unit. I asked if I should upgrade to a dual zone and he swore up and down it wasn’t needed since the fourth level was only a 13×17 ft. loft. Boy was he wrong. As soon as the dog days of summer came around the loft routinely was 10 to 15 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. We are talking an untenable 95 degrees at times.

*edit* I must say that my view of this unit is cooling pretty quickly… I blew a fuse tonight and in my three years living here, I have NEVER blown a fuse. It must be using a lot of electricity. Also, yesterday was hotter…. about 85 degrees, and I have to say that even when I turned the temp down to 62/63 (lowest temp it goes), the room still felt a bit warm. I was very disappointed to see that. I am worried about when it turns 100+ or even in the 90s. My room isn’t THAT big. It’s probably 10 x 20″. I am really worried about when I get my utility bill…. If I could change the # of stars, I would give it three stars…

We finally caved in and went for a portable unit and specifically this unit given the very complimentary reviews on the seller’s website. Item arrived in a ok time frame from the time I ordered it (slightly under two weeks). Box looked fine, I thanked the delivery man and hurriedly opened it for use. Unit appeared slightly dirty, user manual looked like it was read over a couple of times, and the accessories seemed out of place. At that time I thought nothing of it, installed it (moderate difficulty)and started running it. Appeared to work fine and I was happy, packed up the box to put away. The shape of the unit itself was boxy but not too bad looking but is also quite wide in girth (about 15+”). The remote control was fun to have but you need to be very close or at the right angle for it to activate.
